My name is Maria Orr, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in individual, couples and family therapy. My private practice is located in beautiful Corvallis, Oregon; however, I can also serve clients in other areas of Oregon through teletherapy. I have the experience and passion to help you navigate difficult transitions, recover from trauma, and learn new ways to strengthen and improve your relationships and life. I am also an artist and have a special interest in working with artists, activists, and other creative change agents, as well as individuals in transition. My background includes decades of meditation and mindfulness practice, teaching, grief counseling, and five years of work in public mental health. I am adept at combining complementary methods and techniques to help you access, and draw from, your own deeper well of wisdom, resilience, and purpose to create the life that is your gift to yourself and the world.
My approach is best described as intuitive, creative, and humanistic. I tailor therapy methods to each client, using interventions such as play, expressive arts, mindfulness, and cognitive behavioral therapy. My background includes a Master of Arts degree in Psychology from Saybrook University in Oakland, CA as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, emphasis Writing, from Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, CA. I have experience as an intuitive life coach and teacher; I have taught art, meditation and intuitive skills, as well as academic subjects, to students aged 4 to 80. As an artist, I have displayed work in various venues in California and Oregon and currently draw my inspiration from the beauty and diversity of nature. I am most interested in helping you access your creativity, resilience, and spiritual resources to improve your communication and relationships, and reach your life goals.
